All Hallows by the Tower This, one of two architectural walks concentrates on the events in the history of the City of London, including the arrival of the Romans followed by the Normans through the Great Fire of London of London in 1666 which dictated the low skyline of London until 1956.
It then explains the rash of high buildings which only paused in 1980.
Big Bang in 1986 dictated the requirement for a different type of building with tall towers returning with 30 St Mary Axe, The Gherkin, and shortly the maximum height limit in the City of London will be reached with a new building which will replace the Aviva Building at One Undershaft.
